You really can't get rid of it. You can shut down your email address and that'll end your participation under that name, along with your profile.

But if you want out of it, all you have to do is mark your profile private, bar everyone, and use a ? mark for an ID.

Only Yahoo can delete a YA account however, you could do this: Click your avatar, delete all your contacts click edit my info, delete the info in your profile including your personal avatar if you had one, set everything to private and , uncheck to receive ims or emails, click save don't return to the site.Your questions and answers remain on the site they are the property of Yahoo.

Just do not visit the site. There is no way to remove resolved questions or answers. You can remove the avatar and change the nickname at any time and it will show up for all previous postings.
