Not is a symbol maya (nahual) is a representation of the Quetzal ( sacred bird maya) In Tzy Nabe (first tradition of Popol Vuh book maya look on wikipedia) are the first references to the creation of the world the holy book says is undoubtedly one of the creator gods that light and are "covered by a green blanket" Q'uq 'Kumatz, literally means "quetzal serpent", but can also be translated as "serpent with quetzal feathers" because the syllable q'uq' means both quetzal, as "quetzal feather."

Mel, I don't know the symbols around the outside of the pin but the one in the center is Quetzalcoatl, one of the major Gods of the Aztecs.
