Well, the question itself could use improvement; many users would consider a "Did you like/enjoy...?" question as chat and report it. I wouldn't personally bother with it, but Customer Care is not always consistent in reviewing borderline content. A better phrasing might have asked which aspects were best, or how the movie could have been improved.

The category 'Movies' was the best choice because the question would receive answers from users likely familiar with the film. 'Polls & Surveys' might have been good as well. (Polls may be placed in any category.)

    As for the answers...

The three responses that "never saw it" (#1, #6, #9) would be non-answer violations. Though they aren't insulting in any way, they also don't technically answer the question. Saying you haven't seen a film is not the same as saying whether or not you enjoyed it. The best approach to a question, if not familiar with the subject matter, is to skip it and answer another. It's not fair to the asker to collect 2 points without helping them.

Answers #3 and #8 are also non-answers. Although #3 seeks clarification of the question, he/she has not included an answer. A better wording would have been "Do you mean 'Labyrinth'? Yes, I enjoyed that movie." And although #8 references and obviously approves of Connelly, who appears in the film, they never state whether or not they enjoyed the film itself.

Neither #4 nor #5 are violations, in my opinion. There is no guideline against correcting the asker's spelling, as long as it is done politely and accompanies an actual answer. "Muppets are for babies" is a strong opinion and may offend adult users who like the Muppets, but it does not seem hateful enough to warrant a violation. A thumb down would suffice.

#10 doesn't state outright whether they enjoyed the film or not, but I can gather from their description that they did not. I wouldn't report it.

No outstanding answers in that list, I must say. I would likely pass on voting any as Best Answer.

On a side note, I happen to like "Labyrinth". It doesn't appeal to me as much now as when I was younger, but it holds up better than Jim Henson's earlier "The Dark Crystal", and I enjoy seeing special effects films made before CGI became dominant.

    Question: Chatting

A #1. Not answering the question. Answers such as "i don't know" are considered cheating as the person did not provide any useful information and answered only to get two points. In this case, thought the person did not say, "idk" they also did not answer the question - which could have been answered with a simple "yes" or "no".

    A #2. No violation

A #3. Not answering the question. Answers must be in the form of an answer not a question.

A #4. "You spelled it wrong" is not answering the question AND a rant. Hey, i don't make the rules.

    A #5. No violations.

A #6. Not answering the question. The question was specifically, "Did you enjoy..." not "Did you see..." Then starts chatting.

    A #7. No violation

A #8. Not answering the question. Irrelevant - answer has nothing to do with the question.

    A #9. Not answering the question. See A #1.

A #10. Can be considered Not answering the question.

Personally, i don't care about questions or answers such as this. i do not like when people are rude, insulting or obscene.

i would have thumbs down A #1, #3, #4, #6, #8 and #9. I would have thumbs up #2, #7 and #10 because i think they tried to offer something useful. i would not have starred the question because i did not find it interesting.

i would have voted for A#2 or A#7 as Best Answer.

i would place it in the Movies category.

The Q is reportable, as it's pure chat. It could be salvageable if it looked for some specific information. "Would Labyrinth have been a better movie with different casting choices?" (add'l details) "Might Christina Applegate or another teenaged actress from the time have been a better lead than Jennifer Connelly?"

#3 is reportable as non-answer; I think #8 is borderline as non-answer but reportable because of the statutory rape implication.

#1 and #9 might be reportable as non-answers, but in *this* context I'd leave them alone because the question is so vague that it leaves the door open for them.

Likewise, #4 and #5 might be reportable as insult/abuse if the question wasn't so wide. As it stands, I think they're legal answers. (Though that's irrelevant if the question gets deleted, isn't it.)

#6 would get a thumbs down for what I personally consider irrelevant and trollish detail, but it's still an answer as far as I'm concerned.

#2, #7 and #10 have no problem at all.

I do know you had just right intentions with your reply but in truth you had been violating the guidelines as I understand them. Birthright is an organization that seeks to provide help to a girl throughout her pregnancy and encourages her to keep her little one. The individual who requested the question was very naturally pointing out her wish to get an abortion. She used to be not looking for possible choices to an abortion which was once what you had been giving her. I without a doubt doubt that Birthright would have given her the form of expertise she wanted as they don't seem to be for abortion. You weren't answering her query. She may have visible your answer as preaching and he or she resented it. If she allowed e mail, it traditionally would have been higher so that you can contact her that means. She or any one else would now not be capable to file you for that. Edit: I simply read one of the vital answers you obtained on your question and may see that i am certainly in the minority. Nevertheless, I nonetheless hold to what i've stated. I do not believe that a man or woman's answer must be stated simply on the grounds that the character who asked the query does no longer like it or disagrees with it. It's mentioned very openly here that we are distinctive persons with distinct viewpoints and that we're all entitled to precise them as long as we admire others once we do so. This lady, nevertheless, used to be now not stating a point of view, nor was once she asking anyone what she must do or what they idea. She used to be conveniently asking where can she get an abortion. Possibly parenting wasn't the fine part for her to get an reply however should you had urged another Yahoo reply category as an alternative than Birthright, I feel you do not have gotten your self into as much drawback. Edit 2: yes, you probably did reply the question in the way in which YOU noticed fit, that is to provide her options. But that was once not the question she requested. She was once not requesting expertise on her other choices. She was handiest asking the place she can get an abortion. Period. As I said previous, if you happen to desired to gift her with other choices, It wouldl have been safer to e mail her.

The question is not a violation; it's a valid poll.

However, to avoid being reported, the question can be phrased any number of ways, such as "Is Labyrinth enjoyable for kids or adults?".

#1, #3, #6 and #9 are violations of the Community Guidelines, as "Non-answer" violations.

#1, #6 and #9 cannot be re-worded. If they haven't seen the movie, they cannot answer.

#3 forgot to answer, yes or no.

NO, I would not report the question because it's not chat; it's a nice question.

No, I would not report the non-answers, unless they were receiving BA votes (I wouldn't want a non-answer to win BA).

I would TU to #2, #4, and #7 because I also enjoyed the movie.

    I would TD #5 because I disagree.

I *might* star the question, only if my movie-lover friend asked it, because I love that movie.

I would vote for Best Answer, if I stumbled across it 'In Voting'.

The best categories for the question are: 'Movies' and 'Polls and Surveys'.

To rebut some of the answers here:

#4 answers the question; not insult/abuse; not a violation.

#5 answers the question; not insult/abuse; not a violation.

#8 Although the answer does not include the word "Yes", it is clear the answer is affirmative; therefore answers the question. The answer is not graphically sexual, does not imply statutory rape; not a violation.

The question is a violation for chatting, in many people's eyes. It isn't seeking useful knowledge or information. It might be better worded like this: What is the movie (Name) like? What audience type is likely to enjoy it?

Some people feel every answer to a chat question is a violation for chatting. (Sorry, lost my connection!)

I'd not really run across it, as it isn't anything I would be inclined to answer. If I did see the question, my reactions to the answers would be:

    A #1 TD

    A#2

    A#3 Reported/ not an answer

    A#4

    A#5 TD

    A#6 TD

    A#7

    A#8 Reported

    A#9 TD

    A#10

I'd likely vote No Best Answer if I ran across it.

If posted outside the Polls category, the questions and all answers are violations for chatting. #10 might not get reported since that person tried to give a useful answer to a bad question.

In P&S, the questions is a chat violation, but would not likely get reported. Answers 1,3,5,6,8,9 do not answer the question so they would be violations.

As others have said, there are ways to reword it into a fact seeking question that would not be a violation and you would still get the same information.

1, 3, 4, 8, and 9 are all TOS violations. They do not answer the questions. :D I report all TOS violations when I see them.

I would "thumbs up" 10 and 2, because they are real answers, and give good reasons why they have that opinion.

Suggesting rewording is always very, very subjective. Is it based on grammar? Spelling? Or personal opinions?

I generally don't star questions. I will "private watch list" questions, if I think they're potentially TOS violations waiting to happen.

I think this would fit either in Movies, or in Polls. It's probably more appropriate in Polls, but that's my personal opinion.

And, for the record, I LOVE that movie, for one of the last lines, "You have no power over me." That's what every teenage girl needs to remember, as she goes through, well, teenage years.

I would normally not report this Q, I would not answer it either.

    I would likely report #1, #3, #8, #9.

But if I came up the Q in a bad mood, the Q, #5 and #6 would be tempting too.

    I would certainly vote NBA

Short answer: the question - Did you enjoy the movie "Labrinth"? - is a chat violation.

The answers are irrelevant. Opinion seems to be divided on whether responding to a chat-violating question is automatically chat.
