Affordable Vet in the Vancouver area?

My cat is limping and I need to find an affordable vet in the Vancouver area (British Columbia). I am in West Vancouver but will travel for a more affordable Vet. Otherwise they can cost hundreds of dollars just to run a couple of tests! Thanks for helping out.

Update:

Just wanted to add that sometimes the initial visit is 'cheaper' but the tests are more expensive, so I am finding that asking not only for the initial visit cost but also for tests such as X-RAYS and blood work is vital to determine the general costs of a vet service. I'll try the SPCA and will keep asking. The vet does NOT have to be in my area, even Richmond will be fine. Usually Richmond is cheaper, if you know a Vet in Richmond or New West or a more affordable area pls let me know, thanks.

Get on the phone and call the vets. Describe the problem and ask what they think the upfront costs would be.

Call the SPCA and ask if they have or know of low cost medical program. Sometimes and SPCA has one and some time they have resources to point you too.

Try the SPCA clinic. They are really cheap.

Or you can try the Hemlock Animal Hospital. Once I was being cheap and decided to go here ($25 for the exam fee versus the usual $50+ from other vets). Personally I hate the receptionists (they're all very clueless, unwelcoming, lazy, etc) and the vet has a horrible bedside manner. To him, it's obvious that business comes first, not your pet. He'll still treat your dog for a discount, but he's not an animal lover by any means. http://hemlockvet.com/

Call some local vets in your area and ask how much they charge just to look at the cat. Tell them what is wrong with your cat, and ask if they think you will need other tests, and how much those tests would cost.

It is extremely difficult to answer this because 1, I don't live there and 2, each specific case is different so you will need to do the work and call people.
