If christian morality comes from their god why is it subject to change?
The bible says slavery is allowed (old and new testament). Up until 200 years ago christians believed it was morally acceptable to own another human being. On the assumption you no longer believe slavery is morally acceptable which of you other god given morals do you think you can change as you see fit?
@ Shawn - I do wish you would take your own advice, the Bishop of Exeter personally owned 655 slaves which worked on his plantations in the Caribbean.
Leviticus 25:44 Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves.

Just watch... in a hundred years mainstream Christians will publicly support gay marriage and abortion, and claim it has always been that way.

<<If christian morality comes from their god why is it subject to change?>>
I think the simplest answer would be the most obvious...
Mankind doesn't always follow God's will.
in regards to the Bible...
Its obvious that the practice of slavery and the laws enacted surrounding them, was not something that God condoned.
IN FACT.. as evidence of this.. The Israelites were told NOT to take slaves of the pagan tribes and when they DID, and inter-married as a result, they had PROBLEMS later on, remaining faithful to God.

ACTUALLY.. review history.. you can not lump ALL Christianity together. There was ACTUALLY quite a bit of debate, especially among Catholics. Entire conferences were convened to resolve the debate.
Officially, the Catholic church actually condemned slavery...however did little, in reality, to stop the slave trade due to economic pressure from the Monarchy and governments of Europe.
TRUE.. many DID justify it. But that hardly touches on the morality of God..but of Man.
In the end, that does more to illustrate the point that God's morality can not change..but Mankind doesn't always follow it.

Old Testament is Jewish culture and history which provides us with background information and doctrines to better understand what the New Testament talks about. Where in the New Testament does it state that it is "okay" to own slaves? It does talk about what to do if you are a slave when you finally accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
God's morality never changes, mankind's always changes to suit the circumstances. Christians who did own slaves in the past did so out of ignorance of what God teaches. It also was an outgrowth of society in general during certain periods of human history. No excuses being made here, simply stating the facts. You can quote Leviticus all that you want to, I am not Jewish. You can't take one part of the Bible without comparing it to what else is said in the rest of it.

Context is everything. Allowing and regulating an evil in order to allow for a greater good make sense (this is all the Bible Does with respect to slavery). Your sweeping generalization about Christians is false. The only thing you do by making such generalizations is undermine your own credibility. You are correct that too many denominations have turned back to the law of sin and death (The Scripture describes this as a dog turning around to eat it's own vomit). But you are foolish to judge the Faith of Christianity based on the stupidity of a few religious denominations.

Because if they tired to carry it out now, they would be punished. Instead they come out with backwards **** like "Jesus stopped it" So it looks like they are actually being Christian.

Cults can only be profitable when they bend to the materialism of the day.
Ever heard of a christian supporting evolution *BEFORE* Darwin came along?

Slavery is not a moral issue. However just because the bible speaks of a subject does not mean God approved of it...........>

So, "Mad". You're willing to judge women but I bet you're not willing to treat men by the same rules, right?
I think you should change your name to "SAD little boy"
