What do you think about some lowlife?
who charged a women, who has lost everything in the Q'land floods, $11.00 for a cup of coffee? Am watching the news and just heard this. I cannot believe an Aussie would take advantage of a disaster to profit. I am absolutely disgusted.
Can't find the link, but take a look at ABC 24. It is the interview with the woman with the red jacket around her neck. "Last Boat Standing"
Thanks, Warlow.

Unfortunately there are many people who profiteer in these situations, just hope charities like the Red Cross can get to the area soon and hand out free food and drinks. As she said, the emergency centres are full and I guess she has no choice but to pay, but surely coffee stands and shops could supply free coffee in these situations. Says a lot about our materalistic society!
@ Elaine - that's a bit harsh! The woman had just lost her family home, a houseboat, the local Evacuation Centre had closed as it was full, she had nowhere to go. She was in a very fragile state and probably dying for a cuppa. In that situation you take what you can get, even if it costs $11! The point is that the person who made the coffee should have given it to her free of charge.

I've just finished reading CMC's answer to my post about the natural disasters. As he was saying how generous Australians were, I was thinking "is it still like that? Surely it is.". But apparently it isn't. Still, the fact that it reached the news shows that people are disgusted by it. Hope he's run out of town.

I don't know of the circumstances................Is there a link highlighting the incident?

Anyone silly enough to pay $11.00 for
a cup of coffee must really be a gullible
soul. We have this woman's word for
it, nothing more.
She probably got a chocolate muffin with the
coffee.

Will believe it when there is a link
