RE:
What wood is used to make pallets?
Source(s): wood pallets: https://shortly.im/diE5Q - ?Lv 58 years ago
It depends on the pallet manufacturer. Most are made of poplar some are oak, pine, other hardwoods or a combination some are made of wood composits or plastic.
Millwood/Chep pallets, the largest pallet manufacturer in america uses poplar for chep pallets. Other woods for regular pallets.

Wooden pallet construction specifications can depend on the pallet's intended use: general, FDA, storage, chemical, export; the expected load weight; type of wood desired: recycled, hard, soft, kiln dried or combo (new & recycle); and even the type of fasteners desired to hold the pallet together: staples or nails.

Heres a link to about 12 pallet recycling places around Orlando....Call them up for prices..keep in mind if you have a few broken ones, and they are the "solid oak" type..they make a great bbq wood for your charcoal bbq..if they have no sealer on them..you can tell by looking at the knot holes on them and if you see a slight shine around the smooth knot holes..they are sealed..if no shine..they are good for your bbq grill..heres a link to sell them though

Along with stone, mud and animal parts, wood was one of the first materials worked by early humans. Microwear analysis of the Mousterian stone tools used by the Neanderthals show that many were used to work wood. The development of civilization was closely tied to the development of increasingly greater degrees of skill in working these materials.
