tree I D germany wiesbaden bowling green- are those london plane trees flanking the square?

yes, i think so. in 2003 they were huge ~ 12' cir.

    I'm the curious type, so I checked it out because I have never heard of the tree or the place. It sure looks like it to me based on the photos I found.

    Those are plane trees, no doubt. There are lots of them everywhere in German towns. They also shade the Kurfürstendamm in Berlin. They are called Ahornblättrige Platane (maple-leaved plane) in German.
