What hamster should I get?

I'm getting a hamster and i was wondering what kind i should get. Syrian or dwarf? And if it's a dwarf which ones are the nicest? Anyone with personal experience who can help beyond what I have already found on the web would be appreciated.

I have a Syrian and he is the sweetest thing ever♥ They really like getting held, calm and so sweet. If your'e wondering for the exact type I would go with Syrian short-haired because you dont really need to brush their hair. So I would go with Syrian. Also this might come in handy while you're adopting a hamster:

Teddybear hamsters and Syrian hamsters are the same thing, just so you know so you don't get confused.☺

If it's your first time getting a hamster, than I highly recommend the Syrian.

They are larger, tamer, friendlier, and generally nicer to look after (especially males). Plus they come in a lot more colours.

After you've had a Syrian hamster, you could try experimenting with other species since you know how t look after them.

I've never owned a drawrf hamster, but I've met friends who do and I personally prefer the syrian.

You should defently get a robo hamster they are the smallest hamsters in the world and fastest they love to be pet they like to go in there hamster balls there just so lovable I would recommend going to the pet store look at the Syrian hamsters and then look at the robo hamster and you decide I would recommend going to petco they are very nice there I thInk Robos are the perfect hamster to start with if you want to get two get them at the same time not sepert otherwise they will fight I have experience because I had 2 and I just loved them to death they just made my life happier and my life complete then I got two syrain they where butting me every day my hands where bleeding they are very fighsty Robos never bite once my robo hamster bit me only because I touched her favorite treat and she thought my finger was a treat so always wash your hands after you give you hamster a treat hope you pick robo hope I helped

Get a syrian one because if you wanted to hold a dwarf hamster it would run away quickly as they run very fast. I would recommend getting a boy syrian hamster! It is what I have but also if you get a girl it doesn't let you handle it as much as boys do as they get EXTREMELY scared!

This is part is not answering your question but maybe you could call it one of these names?

    Rolo

    Munchkin

    Noah

    Jellybean

    Nibble/Nibbles

    Smokey

    Snowy

    Lolly? Hope this helps!

I say Syrian hamsters are best because they like to be handled and they won't bite unless your hands are not washed.

Source(s): I have a Syrian and I have had it for 2 months and it hasn't bit me yet!

Whichever species you get, please rescue. There are thousands of homeless hamsters in rescues and up for re-homing around the world. If none at any rescues near you then check out sites like www.PetFinder.com and search for hams in your location. You'd be giving a hamster the second, maybe third chance in life they deserve. You do find young ones up for adoption.

Whatever you do, please avoid pet stores. These places are awful. Find out for yourself:

Otherwise, look for an experienced, registered, reputable breeder. Avoid inexperienced, breeding-for-fun or breeding-for-profit breeders.
