How long does it normally take to download a full game to the Wii U?
I wanted to take advantage of the price drop that Nintendo has going on right now on the Wii U's Eshop of the various UbiSoft games. So, I figured that I would download Assassin's Creed III to see what it was like on the Wii U, well... as it turns out... I didn't have enough FREE MEMORY available to be able to actually download it (and I even bought the Deluxe Set with the 32gb of memory).
Anyway... I went out and bought an external hard drive (Toshiba brand 2TB, works quite well). And... after purchasing the game last night and starting the download it ended up taking around SIX HOURS to download the whole game!
I realize this is a fairly large game and all, but SIX HOURS??? Is this normal? Has anyone else downloaded AC3? How long did it take?

ACIII is something like 17gigs.
And since you're going through Nintendo's network, you can expect less-than-full speeds based on your internet service speed.
Even if you had a 10mb/sec internet service, the theoretical maximum to download 17gigs would be about 4 hours.
So taking into the fact that nintendo's download speed would be something less than that, 6 hours doesn't seem too unreasonable.

Hey there,
This is a good link for downloading Diner Dash 2: Restaurant Rescue for free: http://bit.ly/1BDwYrK
it's completely free and it's very fast to install
The objective of the game consists of saving your friends from some evil builders that want to tear down their restaurants in order to construct a gigantic shopping mall
It's the best game of its category.

In short... Depends on your Internet connection & current network traffic.
Downloading retail games digitally will take a couple hours because you're downloading anywhere between 2 & 25 GB's of stuff (or roughly 1 - 6 DVD's worth of data). Since you're download through standard web server systems, the demands on Nintendo's servers will affect your download speeds as they can only send as much data as their connection can handle... as well as yours.
6 Hours isn't that far fetched... It's fairly reasonable as it could have taken 24-30 hours on a weaker connection (or if the Nintendo network was getting heavy traffic).
Hope this sheds some light on the subject.

It can depend on the game, so there is no normal. I believe the disks hold upto 25GB, so this is probably the limit for most games. One thing that may have happened during your download is that after you've downloaded a certain amount, some ISP will "throttle" your download speed.
All I can really add is that on a 30Mb connection the system update on my Wii U took about 10 mins, compared to the hours that some others had to wait. Has to be said that I started my update at 4am, and apparently thanks to throttling if I'd started before midnight it would have completed later - even on the same ISP!

Well, your Internet does matter in this situation, shitty Internet =slow, plus you are getting the files through your wii, super slow, I downloaded my AC3 on PC with 2 hours at 3 megabit connection.
