What is the difference between a Drone and a B-17 bomber?
Or, what is the difference than what we used in Shock and Awe over Iraq? Don't Drones create far less collateral damage?

Well, a B-17 drops ordinance, and ... hopefully, maybe you have about a 10% chance you're going to hit your target. The theory is that if you "carpet bomb" enough explosives, eventually you might hit your target. This makes people on the ground very angry, and they will shoot back real bullets, and a lot of them... putting the big airplane and all the people in it at risk.
On the other hand, a drone is a more precise instrument of destruction, and with the added benefit of not putting any soldiers at risk, because it's unmanned. It also uses and carries just enough to get the job done, and return safely to base.
Big difference.

Really the difference is that a bomber carries a larger payload and Drones can also be used for unmanned surveilance. Basically its a much safer (since no one has to be aboard it) and more accurate bomber.
Quite honestly, its good Drones are being used instead of bombers, you can make more precise hits so you don't level a whole city block.

Each of them are listed as Strategic Bomber. A strategic bomber is a heavy bomber aircraft designed to drop massive amounts of ordnance onto a distant goal for the purposes of debilitating an enemy's capacity to wage struggle. Not like tactical bombers, which are used within the combat zone to assault troops and navy gear, strategic bombers are built to fly into an enemy's heartland to destroy strategic targets, e.G. Principal military installations, factories and cities. In addition to strategic bombing, strategic bombers can be utilized for tactical missions. Bone - is use in low-stage penetration tactic to reduces radar detection distances with the aid of use of terrain covering. At that time SAMs were ineffective against low-flying aircraft. Within the later time... There was once in need of an totally special technique to avoid missiles, intercepts and application of new tactic. Recognized in these days as "stealth", the notion was to construct an aircraft with an airframe that deflected or absorbed radar signals so that too little was mirrored again to the radar unit. This is without doubt one of the intent/cause why the Spirit (ATB) are developed... I consider they're brand new US strategic bombers... However difference in time for difference tactic...

You can't drop thousands of phosphorous bombs on Dresden with drones and kill 100,000 people by burning down a major industrial city.

Nobody dies when a drone is shot down.
