tipping question US travel?

How much is appropriate for a tip for hotel/motel housekeepers? Does it depend on the number of people in the room, how long you stay, or how much of a mess you leave? Say for 2 adults in a room for 4 nights, don't leave a mess so just normal services, room not serviced 2 of the 4 nights, had do not disturb sign up.

What's appropriate for an airport shuttle driver? What about driver inside airport for those carts that take handicapped travelers from gate to gate? What if transport is done one on one in a wheelchair?

For the drivers, a few dollars, $5 would be tops imo. Maybe 15-20+ for the maid.

Judy what would do is to figure it out this way> what kind of a hotel or motel are you staying in. Then divide by how good is the quality of your stay. a 4-5 star would be to tip not too high and yet not too low. If the service sucks do not tip at all. It will then teach them the next time to be nicer to the customer.

Always when tipping try to hand it to the maid if you can. And to also wait until you can put the money gift card or other in her or his hand. I am the type who would normally give an outmost of at least 3-4 dollars USDs if at all possible. But you may want to tip less or more. I wouldn't tip higher than an $8.00 unless if you really make good money and or have a few others staying with u in the room.

But also it all depends upon high much do you make in comparsion to how high is the hotel and the hotel ratings and the quality of ther hotel better than others or just below average. if it is a below average or worse do not feel you need to tip at all.

But if i were u I would go with just 5-6 tip unless if you are comfy tippingthem more. Okay Judy I hope that is okay with u the answer by the way. If I should any real good sources on average on the right way and the right amount to tip housekeepers I will let you know about it firsthand. thanks for the question of which anyway is a great question. I did want you to know that.

Tipping housekeeping is not essential (unlike in restaurants). If you want to, $1-2 per day is normal at mid-range hotels, or more at high-end hotels. If you leave a mess, of course, tip more.

For airport shuttle driver $1. For wheelchair drivers that are providing a personalized service, at least $5.

housekeeping is fine with a dollar or two per night. even if the DND sign is up

the shuttle driver does not need a tip, unless he loads your luggage for you, then a dollar per bag is appropriate.

the courtesy people inside the airport. $20 is good

For the people inside the airport you can give $20 and I think there is no need to give tip to shuttle driver.

hi Judy- I travel a lot all US state practically Avery other year on the month of may with my lady, and I prefer motels, I avoid hotels because you have to clime 2 or 3 stories up and you live fare away from you car 3ed you have to get a lot of thinks from you car caring them up. I do not like that, the motel you park in front of you door I stay one night only and live the next day some time 2 days and continue our trip I go round 10 to 12 stats in 30 days. the motels I live no tips at all, in hotels if I stay 2 days for 2 of as I live 5 to 7 dollars do not forget those hotels charging a lot of money, betwin 65,00 to 90,00 per night and they do not change the bedding every day avoid motels own by Indian people they are filth stay with American owner, if you travel go by Louisiana state and eat shrimp and langoustos all you can eat for $8,00 we stay 2 days there and clean our clothing, and then live, if you go south to Florida go to a tarpon springs is better town we stay a week there, get motel in 409 they are plenty of theme is the best town in Florida.

I can only suggest- housekeepers-knew one once only get pretty much min wage- $10 does not seem excessive-$20 if you are real messy or that long stay.

shuttle driver,I don't think he expects anything-maybe you could ask other assistancel chair assistance is a courtesy paid by airlines.Might offer a $5-or $10 but I bet they refuse.

The bottom line is layers. Which you can % long underwear [silk, for example] in order to support in ny. Lengthy-sleeved shirts, lengthy pants, sweaters, fleece vests, and so forth., so that you can add/subtract layers as stipulations warrant. For the big apple you're going to want a warm coat, a hat, gloves, preferably water resistant sneakers. You do not say where in new york, but that may make a difference as to how so much snow you'll be able to come across. Temps might be milder in Texas and Oklahoma, but will not be "warm". Examine the weather Channel internet site or the NOAA website for info on expected weather subsequent week.
