how much authenticity in the News today? Is the Media mannipulated by our government?

Lately, You turn on the TV news channel, open Google news, all you see is your country trashing the other countries who are doing better than you! Doesn't even matter if they are true, It is the amount of the news and the actual context are becoming more and more aggressive, more and more subjective, more like attacks rather than objective views!

Take the U.S and France for example, US media was focusing 100% on the middle east telling the Americans how wrong the Arabians were for years, that given the U.S government a foundation and reason to start a War in middleeast, so when they actually did the Americans will stand by their government! and today they are bitching about the chinese! If the chinese communist is really controlling their media, our governments are not doing any different!! Aren't you just sick of hearing more about China? I mean, the whole point of getting news about Foreign countries is so that we can learn about the rest of the world, so we can think of a way to do better, but what we should be focusing is still our economy, our country and our people! Trashing others is only going to make your people angry and pissed about the Far east is doing better than the west, not turning things around...

dds, I believe Edward R. Murrow said "Television is the opiate of the people." (Karl Marx is credited with saying "Religion is the opiate of the masses.)

I take television news for what it is, and I don't depend on it to shape my opinions and beliefs.

To be informed, I consider a variety of media outlets, then make my own decisions.

If television tells me there's a fire at the hotel at 12th and Main and shows me video, I believe it. If it tells me we should get out of the war in the Middle East, I know that is editorializing, and I give it the weight it deserves - it's an opinion.

True news is what it is - "authentic" is a relative term. Is the media manipulated by government? The media is manipulated by everything, my friend - particularly advertisers. They are strange bedfellows.

Source(s): I used to work on the daily at the St. Joseph Gazette. Me and Eugene Field before me.

If you read a newspaper such as the Daily Mail or Mail online you will get a very authentic and reliable newspaper. In no way controlled by the government.

Also if you watch the BBC or the world service you will get the same reliable service.

Some Western nations - i.e.: Canada - have truth-in-journalism laws.

These prohibit the broadcast of false of misleading information.

In short, they're literally laws against lying in the news.

Just because some nations don't hold their media to rigorous journalistic standards doesn't mean that all Western nations fail to do so.

So quit spreading propaganda of your own and smarten up.
