Married men: How long did you know the woman you married before you knew you wanted to marry her?

Note that I am not asking how long it was before you actually proposed, I am asking how long it was before you knew you wanted to get married to her in particular.

Married women: if you know this about your husband, please share.

For me, it was about 6 months - I asked her to marry me around the 7 month mark.

Inspired by: questions from women who have had boyfriends for years and years, with no engagement yet.

I met my wife to be in the 1st grade ! We loved each other when we were little kids. So, we married just out of high school . We went to the same college and both served in the military . I was in the 1st grade when I knew I would marry this beautiful , blonde , blue eyed little girl . I knew this within seconds of meeting her . Believe it or not ? It is so . We have been married 47 years come the last day of June . I am still amazed every day that she is my wife . Her kiss can still send shivers up my spine . I do love that woman so . Six children (all boys), fifteen grand children and nine great grand children . I am sure my last name will still be around when the Lord comes to take his children home .

1 year. Had been married several times before and was in no hurry to rewed. However, I was in no hurry to wed either and we both knew where we stood on it. We did break up after 4 years and had stopped nearly all contact when, 3 months after breaking up, my husband showed up with a ring and a formal proposal and we were wed two months later. 25 years ago now.

My husband knew me for 4 months I think. We did get in an argument one weekend and broke things off for just a few days. He didn't know I invited my ex husband, ex boyfriend and one of his sons buddies over to my apt to **** me while we were broken up though. We got married 7 months after we first met.

Been married 25 years and still waiting for that epiphony. Basically, we were living together, had a couple of dogs and it just seemed more convenient that splitting up. Neither of us could accomodate both the dogs on our own so I guess I married her so the dogs wouldn't suffer the trauma of a broken home.

    That really is about it.

It was about the same for me as it was for you, just a few months (but it was about 28 years ago, so I don't really remember, lol).

Here in Y!A, I always tell people, if you're not sure you want to marry someone by the three year mark, you're never going to be sure.

We met in September of 2001, we dated on the weekends through that month and the next, then by October 30th she was moving in with me because we knew we wanted to be together forever. So... 2 months?

Seeing her beautiful dark hair through a fast food restaurant window, 1 second later I knew.

    That happened 51 years ago.
