Is chloride an isotope and fluoride?

Update:

Thank you very much for an answer accurate. Dr. Bob . Would they be positive or negative Ions. My interest is that both are included in our public water supply. Fluoride being proven a bone degenerative chemical. Is chloride a double number twice as bad in the climate change equation?

Update 2:

Thank you cat lover your facts are very helpful because here in Ca. North & South as well as in Texas large amounts of chlorides are being added to our water supply Over years of use to live it is known to cause bone loss and liver damage. This may also effect your cat, fish, dogs and vegetation. I don't know about the rest of the country but it seem that a large part of our society is being poisoned. Here in the bay area a change in chemistry has made it impossible to boil out. Is the next generation being termed out early & birth defects? Generically Genetically Modified or genocide.

Dr. Bob gave you the details. They are negative ions (anions).

All chemicals are poisons; it all depends on the dose. Chloride ions will be present from water treatments to kill bacteria. For instance, a quick way to disinfect water is to add a few drops of bleach. You are adding chloride anions, although in a slightly different form, combined with oxygen. And there are also natural sources. The same with fluoride. It can be present naturally, or added to prevent cavities. The levels are normally very, very low.

It will not be present at a level to affect bone density, unless it would be naturally occurring, and in that case, the water utility would have to find a way of removing the excess amounts.

    Chloride is a single anion.

Chloride and fluoride are IONS -- they have a -1 charge.

However, Chloride ions consist of two isotopes, and Fluoride consists of only one.
