Barely a warmup. It takes longer than that to get your heartrate and circulation up to speed.

Absolutely no. You were going too fast and into the anaerobic zone which is the opposite of a good cardio workout. To do a good cardio, slow down to some speed that you can sustain for a whole hour or two. Eventually you could get just as fast and even more once you build up your cardiac (heart) muscle. That is the whole point of cardio. Yo also will build up the flat muscle walls of the arteries and veins, build capillary vessels to feed the muscles and the lungs.

A good cardio is one that you have to stop after one hour because you don't have more time not because you don't have enough air.

A good cardio lets you energized for the whole day, not exhausted and depleted.

Biking is an extraordinarily a lot so a cardio workout, however like every cardio exercise it is only what you put into it. Should you experience at a sluggish pace then you'll no longer burn as many energy as in case you experience at a more severe percent. It's also intricate factor to balance, as you are going to end up consuming more energy after using to top off than in case you didn't trip in any respect. Many folks pig out after driving, which fully negates any energy burned. However sustained cardio exercise has the aspect outcome of elevating resting metabolic rates as well, resulting in extra energy burned in a day without always doing something. The easy reply is to do as much cardio as generally as that you could for so long as that you can as difficult as which you can for highest energy burned. Whether or not this is sustainable is as much as you, but for targeted, some cardiovascular endeavor is healthier than none at all. If you are enthusiastic about weight reduction, bear in mind performing some critical weight training moreover to straight cardio. Resistance coaching burns gigantic quantities of energy seeing that your body has to burn them off as rapid as it may well to deliver the vigour wanted to gas the speedy bursts. Cardio, however is more efficient at utilizing fuel stores, but can also be maintained for longer periods of time without relaxation. An introduced bonus to weight training is the extra energy it takes to rebuild the muscle that was broken down and the extended metabolism as a result of improved muscle tissue has a sustained outcomes that lasts days after the preliminary weight training.

20 to 30 minute sessions (on the link from Hippie) should be the minimal time. A good cardio work-out will last an hour, 4 to 5 times per week. 10 minutes is only a sprint. 60 minutes is a work-out.

5 km is only 3.1 miles. That might be a decent warm-up period.

Quote, "To get the most from your cardiovascular workouts, the ACSM suggests that you exercise three to five times a week at 60 to 90 percent of your maximum heart rate. Sessions should last between 20 and 30 minutes, and you should choose exercises that use large muscle groups in a rhythmical fashion, such as cycling, running, swimming or rowing."

10 min is not long enough to get a good workout. You want to exercise for at least a hour.
