How do I get a prescription for Xanax?

I am asking this in all seriousness. The last 4-5 months I have been feeling so overwhelmed with school, life, etc. and I have been on the verge of going crazy. I cry a lot from the overwhelming stress and have a lot of anxiety attacks. I don't think I can take it any longer. I had a friend give me a Xanax pill once and it helped a lot. I want to go to the doctor, but I need to know what to tell them in order to get the prescription. I am scared they will just go, "Oh, you're fine just relax some." I know this is a lot more than just needing to relax. I also do not want anti-depressants. I have tried those before and did not like the way they made me feel.

If there is anything else you recommend, about perhaps other anxiety meds or ways I cannot feel so much stress and anxiety, that would be great.

Xanax is highly addictive and they will only prescribe it to you if actually have real anxiety or panic attacks. Not just being extremely stressed out. It's not a good way to cope with your problems. It won't hurt to go to the doctor, maybe they can suggest a better treatment for you.

I really, really, really wouldn't do that. Learn to deal with your problems yourself. Your future self is going to thank me sometimes.

Edit: Xanax is a benzo ... lol, you are not going to get a prescription for those. Benzos work in the same way alcohol does ... they are both depressants. I was taking a low dose of a benzo that I had to be taken off of and I had a really bad withdrawal from. I had to be on Valium to get rid of the withdrawal symptoms. Of course, it felt really good to be on it at first, but it's physically addicting.

Source(s): I've been on meds since I was 18 and since then been diagnosed with so many things it could make minds race. Each med will make one problem go away but cause another. I've gotten stretch marks from one, I have tardive dyskinesa from another, and had my central nervous system shut down on me twice when I was on antidepressants. Please do NOT take them.
