Montreal Alouettes actually own the rights to Tebow. The Als claimed his rights from the Hamilton TiCats.

If (and that's a BIG..IF) Tebow were to play in the CFL, he would have to play for the Als. Seeing that he was released by the Jets, he is a free agent, and can decide what offer to choose. Als General Manager Jim Popp has stated that they would take him, if Tebow contacts them about a job.

Montreal owns the rights. The CFL and NFL have different agreements. One of them is that certain NFL prospects can have initial rights to sign a CFL team. Jesse Palmer signed with the ALS a few years ago but never played. The added media attention was good for the team and Palmer. The same thing will happen with Tebbow.

Actually, Montreal owns his rights. But when a player like that has a slight chance of coming to the CFL, teams may claim his rights if he's not drafted by someone else.

They own his CFL rights. He can play in the NFL still, but if he were to come to play in the CFL, he could only sign with Toronto. Each team gets a certain number of players they can claim rights to. And no other team can sign any of these players

If Tebow is prepared to supply up on his dream of being a QB, then he ought to plausibly finally end up of a set like New England or New Orleans as a facebook or TE. If Tebow won't evaluate reassignment, then he may be interior the CFL, then interior the USFL.

Montreal has his rights, but it doesn't sound too likely that he would make the team.
