Why Japanese claimed Ryukyu islands (Okinawa) belong to them?

I always knew about the history of this part of Asia, Basically "Ryukyu" Islands is the so called "Okinawa" by the Japanese today. It was once Ryukyu Kingdom, and It seek for protection from Empire of China to defeat Japanese islanders for a long time long before the 1600s, Because they fear for the Japanese islanders might invade them somehow. During the Japanese invasions between 1600s-1900s, The island was never officially occupied and claimed by Japan. Somehow, After WWII Ryukyu was "Returned" to Japan by the U.S without authority... So I guess here is a big question mark. What makes the Japanese think They own the island today? Did they officially sign any agreement with the Emperor of Ryukyu kingdom back then? Would love to see the evident...If anyone finds it could scan and upload it to the net will be great!....

because after a lot of Ryukyu people were killed by Japanese in ww2 and US army save them and take over the government. Ryukyu king fled to roc. And U.S. president want ryukyu belongs to roc. But the president of roc jiangjieshi refused twice!! And in the Cold War PRC Was against US and roc fled to Taiwan because of civil war. So US gave Ryukyu to Japan in 1970s.

In the history Ryukyu was a independent country. But Japan occupy ryukyu after industrial revolution. Ryukyu people had their own culture and language. And the culture was influenced by China a lot, you can go to Ryukyu and see the China style building and pictures in their museum.

They were force to speak Japanese and learn edited Japan history.

Japan don't have the sovereignty of Ryukyu and the senator of Ryukyu now is a separatist.

Ryukyu people and Japanese are in different ethnic groups and Ryukyu people are discriminated in Japan now.
