Is Addidas paying D.Rose to sit out the entire season?
The whole D.Rose thing just doesn't make sense. It is apparent that there is "something" going on that we just don't know. Could this be it? We know D.Rose is incredibly passionate and competitive and he has been the best player in practice for 2 months and cleared to play for even longer than that. The Addidas theory makes sense bc they would have the whole off-season to run their "Return of D.Rose" commercials and sell more merchandise.
The other alternative is that D.Rose is a complete wackjob and refuses to come back until he is convinced that he will have no rust and immediately return to MVP form.
Addidas does have a track record of meddling in NBA affairs. They prohibited Dwight Howard from considering Chicago as a potential free agent destination last year bc they didn't want 2 of their top clients on the same team and in the same market.
I disagree, Eddie. IMO, the Bulls are clearly not in favor of him sitting out the entire season since it is pretty widely known that D.Rose is 100% ready to play from a Physical standpoint. Whenever he is mentally ready to return they would welcome him back. The Bulls have nothing to gain from him sitting out the entire season. They are praying that he does do whatever he needs to do (see a shrink, meditate, pray, take bubble baths) to cross that mental hurdle and soon and return right now.
Addidas, on the other hand, would benefit financially from having him sit out the entire season and then market a huge "return of D.Rose" ad campaign. They already have the TV commercial and it is on You Tube, they just haven't aired it yet. I'm sure it will get plenty of play this off-season.
Sports Pro, I disagree. The shoe companies have lots of control over the players. They pay the players millions and millions of dollars and can make that money and contract contingent on anything they want. They aren't obligated to follow NBA rules as much as NBA teams are. They can say we'll give you more money if you don't go to this small market team or we'll give you less if you do. Of course, the player doesn't have to do what they want but if he wants to make more money (which he does...he's an NBA player) they he will do what the shoe company wants.
Also, Addidas does benefit more financially by having him sit out the whole season. If they had no idea when he was coming back, like everyone else, and he just randomly came back on some lonely tuesday 4 weeks ago, they would have had no time to prepare any sort of marketing campaign and would have lost out on the "hype factor." If they know absolutely for sure that he is coming back at the

i could be very much stunned. Rose has been hyped to a daft quantity because of the fact the MVP, and the Bulls have a greater useful checklist. i do no longer believe the Duncan/Kidd assessment. Duncan became greater useful than Kidd around the board. He had greater useful stats than, led a worse team (inspect the 2002 Spurs roster once you get a raffle) to a greater useful checklist, in a greater durable convention. Duncan became a no-brainer MVP that 365 days. Kidd only have been given an excellent variety of hype.

Addidas wants their guy on the court so they can make more "return" commercials and so he can get the reebok stuff on the court. I don't think Reebok benefits from having Rose sitting on the bench in a suit.
Also, Reebok didn't "prevent" Howard from going to Chicago, he didn't really want to go there. Reebok has no control over the players, they pay them to wear their shoes and advertise them.
