I'm 13 years old too , by the way. I got my period on March 1st. I used pads at first. Now this week I've started using Tampons. I honestly think you should start with pads your first period. Unless you're a very sporty girl. Tampons don't feel like anything. You don't feel anything , maybe a bit , but not so much. I am wearing one right now , and I don't feel a thing. Start with the lightest absorbency. I used the Playtex Gentle Glide 360 , Multi Pack with 12 Slender(beginner) & 24 Slender Regular , which works really good. I recommend it , but any tampon with lightest absorbency is best. Also recommend to use a pantiliner while using the tampon so If it leaks , it doesn't ruin your underwear. If you use pads , use the Always , their awesome. Their incredibly thin , and absorb super well , so you hardly even feel it.

When using a tampon , the sitting on the toilet with your legs opened worked well for me , but maybe not for you. Try putting one foot on the toilet seat , or squatting down. Use a mirror , which really helps. I recommend using 2 tampons for school , and when home use pads. Give you a less risk of getting TSS. Change your tampon every 3-4 hours , 6 maximum (probably will be leaking like crazy then).

To me they are slightly uncomfortable. I put it in right but can still feel it. It will feel different! Especially if you aren't used to anything in "there". Start with light tampons. Good luck!

They can hurt at first if you haven't had sex, becuase you "hole" isn't streched out. But You get used to it.
