Why was this question deleted?

If six drivers are speeding, how many are breaking the law? All six. If one of those six drivers gets a ticket, how many broke the law? All six. Is it ok to speed because the other five didn't get caught? No, it is just as illegal for them even though they were not caught and ticketed. You need to know the rules here so you know what is and isn't ok, regardless of what others do.

Things like that keep happening mainly because the reporting is not consistent. This site is user-moderated. Sometimes violations get reported and sometimes they don't. They are still violations and should not be copied by others. People agree to follow the rules here and don't even bother to read them. They think if they see it, it's ok. That is not true in the slightest. You can't imagine it would be ok for the caught speeder to tell the officer "I was speeding because the other drivers were doing it. Nothing happened to them, so I thought it was ok here." It doesn't work here, either.

This is an information exchange site -- not a chat room or social contact site or discussion forum. Questions here must be seeking knowledge or advice of general interest to the community. Answers must attempt to answer the question. Your question was of interest only to the asker. That's not allowed here; things must be of general interest. It is also only asking for personal opinions. That's not ok either. Be glad you can only get one violation per question. That one was worth at least two!

Many things that would be fine on a social site or in a chat room are definitely not ok here, as this is an information exchange site. Because its aim is different, its rules are different. It's really not very wise to agree to something and then not find out what the something really is.

Nowhere do the guidelines say, if it is a question, ask it. Maybe you should read the guidelines.

Did you report, "Is he handsome?" Or just use it as an excuse why you should be allowed to post a violation (which you promised not to do when you got your account).. ?
