Is it too late to buy a PS3?

I've always wanted to play all the Metal Gear Solid games, Rachet and Clank, and Uncharted but with the PS4 coming out sometime late 2013/2014, I'm torn on what to do. I need a system to bring to college but I don't want the system to not supported around 2014 (Meaning I would want to use it for Netflix, PSN, Games, Youtube, etc) What would be the best option? Does the PS3 still have a strong following? Should I hold out until the PS4? Any suggestion helps

the Ps3 is a solid bad *** system, if your needing it for your college dorm/ apartment it can do! The ps3 isnt coming out till around December or November this year, and knowing them they will release other models, most commonly "slim" Ps4's. Thus, If you want something for this year, ps3 will still have a strong community for it and newer games like "The Last of Us" are using the power of the Ps3 to its potential. If you can wait another year, the ps4 no doubt will be a great investment.

If your budget is tight get the ps3. Once the ps4 come out all the ps3 games will be real cheap. If you have the money wait for the pse, as it will probably have a greater online following
