should i get the bus or do walk?

    From Where to where? Walk when it's feasible. Take the bus when it isn't.

    For what?

    Use either the bus or subway. Or, if you like to walk and it's a nice day, do that. One of the best things to do in NYC is to wander some of the neighborhoods and explore.

    Do both, but don't take the Express Buses because they cost $6 to ride! Only use them to get to Staten Island. You can take the subway too, but in the tunnels it's boring and crowded.
