What is the correct type of insurance cover?

I want to volunteer to work unpaid in an office or retail environment. The trouble is if I am not on the payroll I am not covered by workers' compensation so I want to insure myself against accident or injury as well as covering myself should I cause an accident or injury.

Both scenarios are unlikely but I realise that no one will take me on if I don't have insurance. Is there an insurance cover that applies to this and if so what is it called? I can't even get a quote if I don't know what I'm talking about.

YOU cannot buy this (exact) coverage. The employer can add endorsements to their workers compensation and gl policies, to include coverage for volunteers.

The only coverage you can - sort of - get, is the personal liability under your homeowners or renters coverage, and health insurance.
