How can i get started with horses?
I have loved horses all my life. My room would be decorated in all horses, I would only watch horse movies ect.
I've grown up a bit since then, I'm 20 now. But I still love horses with a passion. However, being stuck in a city my whole life I've never even been able to ride one or get close to them. I was wondering if there was anything I could look into to finally be able to start working with these beautiful creatures so that I have experience with them. Thanks!

I would start taking lessons :) also becoming a stable hand is a great way to connect and bond with the horses

Hi,
There are a couple of solutions here. Search for stables where you can go horseback riding out of your town. You might have to drive a little longer to get there, but it will be worth it to do something you love. Try volunteering at a equine shelter or ranch.
If you're considering a career with horses, there are many routes to choose. You could become an equine veterinarian (of course, that is more time and money consuming, and a lot of studying involved.) You could become a horse trainer, or riding instructor. You could become a stable hand or horse groomer. If you're interested in horse racing, you could become a jockey or racetrack trainer.
Good luck with your dreams!

ok here are tips
-buy an older horse above 7. like a gelding!!!!
-make sure the skill isn't crazy ( jumping, barrel racing ,broncs, etc...) get my point
-if the horse is close to you as address go and check the horse. why? see if its head shy, kicks when behind, moody, etc....
-have a price range.. don't buy cheap. (sorry to say) usually cheap horses have a ''problem" with something
- get a horse that has a skill in beginners, all around, trail, etc.....
- pick a generally calm breed like a quarter or paint, but that is my opinion
make sure you will be happy with what u pick . when you are looking find the one that looks perfect for you. and remember its YOUR horse. you will know when the right one comes about.
p.s the reason why you shouldn't start out with a mare is because they can get real moody real quick

Although you are in a big city, there are many boarding barns nearby. You could volunteer to help out or ask a trainer for horseback riding lessons.
