What's the point in decorated hijabs?

I understand the modesty behind hijabs, that it's for a woman to prevent unnecessary attention by not showing her hair, but what's the point with decorated hijabs rather than plain ones? Doesn't that have the opposite effect?

Hi Ben i can totally understand where your coming from and some of the ridiculous comments disgust me that people have this hatered in their mind mostly from the media,

anyway, Yes Hijab is meant to be not showing your hair n remain modest,

But with time's new design have come and new ways of wearing a hijab have become popular,

It's a modern thing and more a fashion thing then being modest

You'd think so, wouldn't you? But many women like pretty things and want to be considered beautiful - so will decorate whatever is allowed to be seen. In countries where only their eyes, the tips of their fingers and their feet are visible, eye makeup, manicures and nice shoes are of epic importance - even more so than among American teenagers.

Who says you can't be oppressed by your religion, but stay "sexy?"

(And the whole "hijabs modest" riff is ridiculous and bull$hit....at least in Western countries. Hijabs are pretentious, and prideful, and arrogant if worn in Western countries. Because they are out of place and draw MORE attention to the woman...not less. Hijabs are for show-offs.)

It's all a part of "I want to wear this to stand out to be different and since I'm in another country I'll yell on the rooftops it's part of my religion and not simply an official custom or tradition adopted by the religion hundreds of years ago by an old child rappist" movement.

If they want to wear one, no problem; wear it home.

Because people have different ideas about modesty. Like for me, personally, I mainly focus on what is or isn't "sexy". There is nothing sexy about pretty scarves, so I think they are modest. But then again, I am Christian, so maybe my opinion doesn't count in this matter.

Women should be allowed to dress in any fashion that pleases them . Men must be gentlemen at all times . However, God makes no sartorial imperatives.

Probably I feel that is to attract men in a different kind of manner. Read Sahih-al-bukhari - this may help

Can I just ask why a god made women with hair?
