What are some good sites to learn about DSLR cameras ?

Hello I will be in the market to buy a decent quality DSLR camera. I know analog cameras but digital is a whole new and different thing to learn. Prefer to spend less than a grand but if it really makes a huge difference in picture quality then I will possibly spend more. Are any of these cheaper DSLRs worth the money ? Is Nikon or Canon making some of the better DSLR's or is it some new kids on the block. Leica sounds like its over priced for what they are ? Full frame or not ? I would also like to learn how to use a digital camera since its a completely different way of shooting pictures. My understanding is F stop, and shutter speed doesnt effect the picture the same way a analog camera does ? Many questions as you can see lol. So Im in need of some good resources to or even magazines or books that are really good.

Thank you

Kevin

I will be shooting mostly Macro, and static nature scenes. Will i need two lens's to get the right effects or is there one size lens I can pretty much do everything ? Thanks again for your help

Pop into a local library and have a read at some of the Photography books, you'll get a wide range of information about equipment and techniques.

I tend not to recommend internet websites as they can be a bit 'hit and miss' with information and sometimes difficult to confirm how accurate it actually is, a good 'photo guide' book will have all the latest websites listed.

Canon, Nikon, Pentax and Sony all make decent cameras, you will prefer one Brand to another, some cameras might feel too big or too small in your hands, some just don't feel right at all.

A wide angle to mid telephoto lens would be my recommendation, other people will advise something different - A 18-105mm lens with macro is a very good starting point.

It's really good advice to get familiar with your local camera retailer, don't be afraid to ask questions, this will give you a chance to 'hold' the equipment to see if its a 'good fit'

P.S. Leica is the Rolls Royce of cameras, all photographers would like to have at least one..!

There is no difference between film and digital. It's exactly the same. Aperture size, shutter speed, and ISO all work precisely the same way. Photography concepts don't change. The tool just got an upgrade. A huge one!

Avoid cheapest. They are crippled in one way or another and will make it more difficult for you to learn photography. Get at least mid-level like this.

Canon is the most popular because of their multi-million advertising campaign. Nikon is next. Popular does not necessarily mean best. All dSLR's are good no matter what brand or model. They are all basically the same. The industry standard remains Hasselblad.

Leica makes the best lenses ever. Overprice is relative.

Full frame or crop sensor is just size. You need bigger if you work with more details like in image manipulation and gigantic prints. Picture quality won't change much especially if you only print to 8x10".

Most dSLR's come with an 18-55mm kit lens. This is an extension of the 50mm normal lens we had in the old film days. Although more flexible, the kit lens is slower at f/3.5-5.6. It's still very useful though and can be used to shoot almost everything you will encounter if you know exactly what you are doing. It can't do macro of course so you will have to buy a separate macro lens. Here's a lengthly run down on how to choose lenses.

Shooting digital is no different from film. You can shoot exactly the same way you did with your film SLR and you can pick up a few tricks as you go further. Autofocus is faster and more precise and even if you focus manually, a focus confirmation feature is there to guide you. What really separates digital photos from film is sharpness and that is because of anti-shake technology. You'll love it.

Discover now the best sport betting system: http://sport-betting-tips.checkhere.info/

Too many people think of sports betting as just something they do in their past time. However, many people can see the potential that exists if you manage to have the right sports betting strategy and correct approach to betting in general. Are you sick of losing? Interested in finding out how to turn your luck around? Do you want to know which sports betting strategies stand to help you make the most from your betting?

Any good strategy should allow you to place bets based on a systematic method. Of course there is always a random element or so called luck involved, but betting is all about stacking the odds in your favor. There should be no guess work involved or bets placed based on gut feelings. Betting is a business and it should be treated like one. Any money you use for betting needs to be separate from money you use for your daily life or anything else. How can you possibly expect to follow a strategy with money that was originally set aside to pay next week's rent with? You can't. This will help you to focus on the task of betting and remove any emotional strings attached to the money.

So what makes a good strategy or what should you look for in a strategy before you decide to implement it? Any good strategy needs to have a positive expectancy. This means that in the long run you will win. The hit rate of the strategy needs to be above 50% for you to be able to profit in the long run. An ideal win rate should be between 60 to 70%, because you will need to cover the fees and other expensive associated with betting. Is it feasible to expect you'll be able to find a system that has a 100% win rate? No, it isn't. The best you can do is find a system that has a positive expectancy and stick with it. In the long run you will make more money than you can possibly lose.

Keep whatever information and news you have about the teams as up to date as possible. Any changes in the teams makeup or factors that affect how the players play will great affect the potential outcome of a match. Make sure that you are constantly up to date on every aspect that affects the potential outcome of a match. Information is the key to winning at sports betting.

Definitely review and look at the many different cameras at a camera store. Get the feel etc and see the features. A web sight that might be helpful is digital photography school which has some camera reviews but also a load of digital books on various topics of shooting digitally. Every week they e-mail members a news letter with tips and more. www.digitalphotographyschool.com (i think that's right). They cover a lot of topics about digital pictures from composition, to camera settings to lighting, to computer programs for fixing pictures and more. Members have a wide variety of cameras so look at the reviews, polls and what some members say about their equipment. Lots of articles to read.

I happened on some easy to read books by Scot Kelby. They are called The Digital Photography book

volume (number, what ever). They are very good at giving you basic information Plus he backs it up with a web site that helps on each volume to make things clearer for 45 days.. They run about $25.00 each, but well worth it!

    www.kelbytraining.com

    Good Luck!

I have 3 of them, when I went from film to digital !
