Why are plant leaves green? I just realized the answer on a interesting science news article on Yahoo.?

    This is due to presence of Chloroplasts in Plant cell( Chloroplasts is a cell organelle). It contains a green pigment called chlorophyll which help in absorbing of light to cause photosynthesis, Thank you

    Plant leaves are green due to the chlorophyll (located in the chloroplasts), which is where photosynthesis occurs. Chlorophyll is a green pigment.

    Very little green light is absorbed by the leaf pigments involved in photosynthesis.
