Im so confused, help?

Hi all, I'm 14 and my parents wants me to stop playing games and using the computer and start reading for I could be prepared for college but I just want to be a kid since you only live once and be a kid once. I currently have a 2.6 GPA but that's not good enough for my mom. I don't know my dream, what I want to do in life, dunno what I want to study in college. Im just confused.

You sound like my son. Games and technology. Whilst it is not a bad thing to do there is so much more to experience from life than being in front of a screen all the time. I am 40+ now and never listened to my mum and I have no major career and only an average paying job. My dream of being a teacher I only discovered once it was to late and I dropped out of school. I probably would not have had the grades even if I did study as I was lazy. In life it is great to have a back up plan an at your age that should be a good education unless mum and dad are going to leave you with a huge mega fortune. At least that way when you get bored you can afford to go back to study. Being outdoors riding a bike, kicking a ball with friends or your dad/mum and being a kid is great. But an education can and will come in handy for a back up opportunity should one day you decide to become something that needs excellent marks. Good Luck.

Well, if you're constantly playing games and on the computer, then I agree with your mom. Crack open a book or see the world outside. The youth of today spend way too much time texting, playing games, etc. to experience life. Maybe you could cut down your computer time in half and do something that requires more thought than pushing buttons. And sorry to tell you, but you're moving out of the "kid" stage. It's life. Deal with it.

    YOLO

Source(s): but seriously, tell your parents that you still want to be a kid and play games and start reading only a little more until you are closer to college
