Conservatives, why eliminate early voting?

I can logically understand why some people support voter ID and why others suppose it. I can even understand the argument that some people make to eliminate same day registration even though I don't agree with the argument. However, many republicans seem intent on limiting/eliminating early voting in elections. In most of these instances state legislators are making a decision for the local counties who pay for the elections. If someone were going to try and make a fraudulent vote, it would seem that the timing of that vote doesn't make a difference. If limiting early voting has no effect on fraud, doesn't save the decision makers any money, and violates the federalist principles, then what is the justification used to limit early voting in localities that want it?

Update:

Ivan, make no mistake. I truly believe it is done explicitly to limit the minority vote. What I really want to know is what excuse would the local elected official give if asked that question on tv? The same way that same day registration is actually to limit democrat votes, but they say that it's about voter fraud.

Minorities tend to vote early much more than members of the Republican base. Therefore, Republicans equate limiting the amount of time for early voting with limiting the amount of opportunities for minorities to vote.

Voter fraud happens so infrequently that attempts to combat it have negligible effect. The main point of these restrictions is to game election results in Republicans' favor by limiting opportunities to vote used mainly by people who vote Democrat. They are essentially disqualifying hundreds of thousands of otherwise legal voters in order to catch a handful of instances of voter fraud.

i don't inevitably agree together with his reasoning, yet I do think of that republicans income from early vote casting. My reasoning is that republicans do not vote on election day with the aid of fact they are able to't in high quality condition it into their schedules (dumb reason) and democrats do not with the aid of fact they are able to't, or won't visit the polling region (for many reasons, some valid some not). Early vote casting is far less complicated to in high quality condition right into a agenda, yet often would not make it any much less complicated to unravel the "transportation" difficulty.

Just WHO is calling for eliminating early voting? I think Ohio Republicans were wanting to end early voting a few days earlier so polling places would have more time to get set up for regular voting. Democrats were saying this was somehow biased. I haven't heard Republicans calling for the elimination of early voting though.

Even IF Republican wanted to end early voting (just for the sake of argument), just HOW would this be biased against Democrats? Are Democrats somehow less capable to exercise their voting rights than Republicans? What does this say about Liberals selling the idea that people need the Democratic Party to get "equality". Where has that special treatment gotten them if Republicans are still more capable in realizing opportunities than Democrats?

They don't like Democrats voting, who generally WORK several jobs and can't take time off on election day. They also have FAMILES for which they need to care.

"Ohio sets up one early-voting system for Republican counties, another for Democratic counties - In heavily Democratic cities like Cleveland, Columbus, Akron and Toledo, early voting hours will be limited to 8 am until 5 pm on weekdays beginning on October 1, with no voting at night or during the weekend, when it's most convenient for working people to vote. Republicans in wealthier suburban districts will be able to vote at night, on weekends and other off-hours during those 11 early balloting days". - See more at: http://www.cps-news.com/wp-content/misc_html/voter...

I believe that "pesky justice system" struck it down as unconstitutional. Nevertheless, the attempt was there.

The Constitution of the United States sets the day for elections. Absentee ballots, only from those legitimately unable to get to the polls on election day, shouldn't even be counted or opened before that day.

Are you admitting that Democrats are too dumb to get to the polls on time and register before they go? I won't disagree.

wow a new conspiracy or as obama says "a phony scandal"

Early voting to me was always get up early and vote. Absentee ballots can't even be handled correctly, why add more to the mess? Get rid of 'early voting' and get better at absentee ballots. Why can voting be done on election day? I get the need for absentee ballots but not 'early voting'.

It is another tool that they're using to suppress the minority voters in this country.
