Would proof of Aliens make people modify their religious beliefs?

UFO sighting[edit] Wikinews has related news: Former Arizona Governor says he saw a UFO during the 1997 Phoenix Lights

In 2007, Fife said that he had witnessed one of the "crafts of unknown origin" during the 1997 Phoenix Lights event, but noted that he didn't go public with the information.[9][10][11][12]

In an interview with The Daily Courier in Prescott, Symington said:

I'm a pilot and I know just about every machine that flies. It was bigger than anything that I've ever seen. It remains a great mystery. Other people saw it, responsible people. I don't know why people would ridicule it.

—Fife Symington III, [13]

It was enormous and inexplicable. Who knows where it came from? A lot of people saw it, and I saw it too. It was dramatic. And it couldn't have been flares because it was too symmetrical. It had a geometric outline, a constant shape.

—Fife Symington III, [14]

However, when he was Governor in 1997, Symington promised he would look into the mass sighting, but then quickly ridiculed it at a press conference where he had his chief of staff dress up in an alien costume, telling reporters that they had found the culprit. His explanation today is that as a public official he felt a responsibility to avoid public panic and therefore tried to introduce some levity into the situation.

On November 9, 2007, Symington appeared with a panel of guests discussing their UFO experiences on Larry King Live. A few days later, on November 12, Symington acted as moderator for a UFO press conference at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. Other speakers included U.S./foreign military witnesses/public officials involved in some major UFO cases, such as the 1980 Rendlesham Forest incident, 1990 Belgium UFO incident, and 1976 Tehran UFO incident, and heads of some official foreign government UFO investigations, such as Nick Pope in the U.K. and Claude Poher of France. They said the phenomenon was quite real, should be taken seriously, and urged that the U.S. reopen its public UFO investigation.[15]

Symington also appeared as a witness of the Phoenix Lights in an updated version of the 2002 UFO documentary Out of the Blue by filmmaker James Fox. Fox helped organize the witness panels for both the Larry King show and follow-up National Press Club event.[16]

John Fife Symington III (born August 12, 1945) is an American businessman, who served as the 19th Governor of the U.S. state of Arizona from 1991 until his resignation in 1997.

I guess it would depend on the person and their beliefs.

The Catholic Church has long acknowledged the possibility of other intelligent life in the universe.

Here are a couple of articles on the subject:

Vatican: It's OK to believe in aliens: http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D90KSE100&... and http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7399661.stm

Do space aliens have souls?: http://www.catholicnews.com/data/stories/cns/05063...

One suggestion is that aliens have never disobeyed God, committed Original Sin and therefore do not require salvation.

God keeps them away from us for their own protection. This is why we only see glimpses of them (UFOs) but no real contact can be made.

If found, it would be interesting if they had a seven day week.

The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that it has never tried to contact us.

What are these things, what is there nature, and who has told us what they are.

Many of the "physical" ufo videos/pictures have been proven to be fakes. With study you will find: these things defy our laws of physics, high speed 90degree turns, and they are not solid(they move through solid objects and water without disturbing them), they are interdimensional.

Certain people have been giving us the idea that they are physical aliens from other worlds who have traveled here, however, intergalactic space travel is impossible because of the massive amounts of debris in space. The reason the space suits are bullet proof is because a grain of sand turns into a bullet in space. How is your opinion formed, media is a big part of it.

The truth is these "aliens" behave in the exact same way as reported ghost phenomenon, demons, spirits etc. only they are viewed in the sky.

The miracle of the sun, involved a spinning disc with lights on it yet the catholic church believed it was a christian event because an entity calling herself "Mary" told people to pray the rosary (btw this is found no where in the bible, it's even spoken against)

The interdimensional entities (aliens, ghosts, demons, spirits etc) need to be grouped together, because they are all the same, instead of separated into supposed independent groups. Separation is for the purpose of confusion.

Proof of aliens only strengthens my faith(I'm christian) because the aliens behave exactly like they are described in the bible, only in the bible they are called by a different name. Don't let a name trip you up, in any respect.

Remember, just as there is a multiplicity of creatures on the Earth, so there could be other beings, including intelligent ones, created by God.

The above is not in contrast with our faith, because we cannot set limits to the creative freedom of God.

Additionally, if we consider earthly creatures as "brothers" and "sisters", as St. Francis did, why should we not speak also of an "extraterrestrial brother/sister"? He/She would still be part of Creation.

    And what about Redemption?

Let us borrow the Gospel image of the lost sheep, the shepherd leaves the other 99 sheep in the pen to go and look for the one who is lost.

We think that in this universe there may be 100 sheep, corresponding to diverse kinds of creatures. However, we human beings may be the lost sheep, the sinners who need the good shepherd.

Actually, in reference to mankind on Earth - God became man in Jesus to save us.

Furthermore, even if other intelligent beings were to exist, they may not necessarily be in need of Redemption; they could have remained in full friendship with their Creator.

But if they were sinners, would Redemption be possible for them?

Jesus became flesh only once - The Incarnation is an event which cannot be repeated but I am sure that they, too, in some way, would have the possibility to enjoy God's mercy just as we have had.

    God bless'

No, it would only support their beliefs. Atleast for Christians anyway since it isn't direct. Its full of metaphors. Angels could very well be the aliens for all we know. God said we were never alone. There will always be religion, sorry to burst your bubble. One dies and another pops up, UFOs or not. Even though everyone knows those are military crafts.

    Some people, sure.

But that's true of anything, so it's a silly question.

Would discovery of a living Mastodon cause people to switch their favorite sports team?

Probably there are people out there that would do so for that reason.

Do aliens exist? I have no idea. I have no proof they do, and I have no proof they don't.

I will say that if they do, then I very much doubt that any of them have ever been here, or anywhere near here.

If they did show up, it would change nothing for me.

I'll start to consider UFO's being real more as soon as every single picture of one stops being blurred out. I saw a documentary explaining UFO pictures and sightings. IT's all a load of bull.

Isa 45:18 For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.

    Vain

    H8414

    תּהוּ

    tôhû

    to'-hoo

From an unused root meaning to lie waste; a desolation (of surface), that is, desert; figuratively a worthless thing; adverbially in vain: - confusion, empty place, without form, nothing, (thing of) nought, vain, vanity, waste, wilderness.

Only planet made to support life is the earth.

No it really shouldn't. It doesn't make God any less God if aliens exist. It just means He created more than we knew about. But human knowledge is limited anyway.

You have insisted that Jesus is an alien many times. He isn't. Now. Where is that report button?
