Has anyone had emails from the Australian Tax Office?

Just have... apparently they owe me $7000+. The email has been disposed of but thought I would warn fellow Yappers that the crooks are at it again.

Update:

Let's see who "gets" the most.

Update 2:

@ Walow....it seems I am related to a late McDougal person formerly of the Czech Republic who has left me ALL his thousands of acres of land, shares, goods, chattels and bank balance. plus a title. Maybe I should, from now on be referred to as "Your Grace". I mean, he had to have been a duke at least.

Anne, thanks for the heads up before I went on my spending spree. You were diddled, I got $10000.

No, I haven't heard from the tax office. But I have received quite a few emails from Kevin Rudd saying that if I don't send him $5 the ALP will lose the election.

The email that's troubling me at the moment is a regular one purporting to be from PayPal saying my credit card is about to expire and I need to give them the new card details. The only thing is, they quote one of my old credit card numbers which to my knowledge has never been given to PayPal.

Well, I'm just glad we're all alive and well and have enough sense not to open these things. I just heard that a friend in Melbourne had all sorts of nasties put onto his computer via one of these things. I get the Nigerian ones mainly, sometimes the Russian or Polish would be brides, and I've also had the Paypal thing too. To say nothing of a whole heap of banks that I've never had accounts with wanting me to update my details.......

Not this time. I have apparently been booking hotel rooms at $2,500 a night, so all that money I got for Wells Fargo won't last long

The only scam emails I get are from random people in Nigeria wanting to pass their inheritance to me. Apparently one of them had more money than Gina Rinehart, lol.

I had one telling me that the online eTax software is again available online if i wanna use it to do my tax myself.

It's pretty easy to spot a scam when huge amounts are involved. They're getting sneakier though. Harder to detect for some people.

Yes, I had one a couple of weeks ago telling me I had to pay $942.00. It's a scam so I just deleted it.

I sincerely hope nobody has fallen for it.

Nothing from the ATO so far, but I did win nearly a £1,000,000 over my mobile yesterday :)

    That's nearly $1,709,182 and I deleted it.

I got one last year, mine started "hello Dear" I knew the ATO didn't care that much. I was only offered $6000.
