How is it possible that Scientology deserves tax exempt status?

Calling them a "cult" is putting it lightly. Criminal organization is more like it.

Just do a Wikipedia search on them:

What kind of "church" behaves this way?

Churches are not tax free because they are churches, they are tax free because they make no profit. There is nothing to tax....0 sum gain All they money they take in is put out in salaries, utilities, building and charities

Non- profit organization, like political parties, PBS, and the Red Cross

Scientology hardly qualifies a church but it does qualify as a non profit

Is Scientology less worthy of being called a " Religion " than the Church of Satan, which is tax except and founded in San Fransisco in 1969 ?

I don't think any religion does. They should pay double, at least.

You haven't heard of the Catholic church? Seriously? The Catholic church commits some of the most despicable crimes imaginable, and spends millions on lawyers defending & re-locating their pedophiles as to protect their image.

This what I have asked before, a Church based on a SciFi writers book.

Anything can become a religion nowadays. Look at pastafarianism

It's wacky and delusional and childish and thus qualifies as a religion.
