Absolutely! You need to also sign up immediately or you'll end up with a penalty. Depending on your income, you'll either get Medicare or Medicaid.

You can enroll in Medicare 2 years from your date of disability after you qualify for SSDI. You can go to any county or city clinic and pay a fee. Since you have SSI, why havent you applied for Medicaid ?

SSI is not enough, you need to be on SSDI. As mentioned, you will sign up for Medicare after being on SSDI for 24 months.
