Can I drive if my wife holds a Full European license in London?
Hi guys. I have a provisional license but my wife holds a full EU license for over 10 years. I have heard that I can drive in the city as long as there is someone next to me who holds a full license. My worry is does that apply to my wife who holds a full EU license? This question applies to London and outside London as well. I do know that i cannot drive while on motorway even if she holds a full UK license.
PS. Just an update for everyone who has been posting answers, thank you very much , but I managed to call DVLA and they said yes you can you do NOT need to exchange the license. And one more think, i know it is not spelled," Licence ", here in the uk, i never did :)
cheers.

The Government website is very clear and simple:
You can practise your driving with an accompanying driver if they:
- are over 21
- have had (and still have) a full licence in the same category as the vehicle you’re driving, for 3 years.
It doesn't insist on a UK licence, and an EU licence is permanently valid (up to age 70) in the UK and does not need to be exchanged for a UK licence. Just make sure your name has been added to her insurance before you take the wheel.

Your wife cannot accompany you with her EU driving licence (it is not spelled "license" in Britain).
Your supervising driver must hold a full UK driving licence for at least two years and be over 21. It doesn't matter whether you are in or out of London.

It depends on which country she passed her test in. Bear in mind that a UK license is also an EU license - and all EU licenses are valid in all EU countries.
If she passed in the UK, then yes.
if she passed in another EU country, then she needs to exchange the license to a UK license - but she will still need to wait 3 years before she can accompany you. So she would need to have exchanged it prior to August 2010 (or passed the test in the UK)

No, the accompanist must have a UK full licence for 3 years and be over 21
