I will be getting a computer from a friend who recently died. He did not tell me the password?

and I did not ask at the time. Does anyone have any idea of how to bypass this or to get the password????? I am going to try a process of elimination of the things that I am familiar with that he might have used for a password.

No. You will need to totally reinstall the system as all the old security holes that allowed people to crack stolen machines and hack accounts have been blocked.

No, fred is wrong. You can recover or reset the password.

    try Ophcrack

burn it to a CD/DVD and boot from it.

It supports XP, Vista, Windows 7 and 8, and unlike kon-boot its free.

Well sorry about your friends death. But if you want you can use a little thing called kon boot. Put it on a USB or CD. Only use it for personal use and non criminal use.

    Source(s): I've used it before.

Hmm, try 'password'. Statistically speaking, it's the most likely chance you have.

Even if you were able to do so, you must not do it. Think about moral points behind what you are trying to achieve.
