yes the use of chemical weapons has been confirmed by other nations. If they used them on their own people do you think they wouldn't use them on us?

This shouldn't be surprising. "I'm gonna make things worse, but it's alright because Bush did something similar first!" or in this instance.... " I didn't set the red line first, it was already set. You just never mind that I DID repeat it, as a threat against a specific country...."

(and kind of makes you wonder...he said this about Syria LAST year....did he know? Why didn't he say the same thing about Libya or any other country. Why specifically Syria?...a YEAR ago)

And the reverse is true. When something good DOES happen...there is no mention of what went on before, Obama is all in taking the credit. eg: pulling out of Iraq. The time line had already been set before he took office. (just one example)

    yes you are

Obama is referring to the Chemical weapons convention ratified by 189 nations

The Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) is an arms control agreement which outlaws the production, stockpiling, and use of chemical weapons. Its full name is the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on their Destruction. The agreement is administered by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), which is an independent organization based in the Hague, in the Netherlands.

As of June 2013, 189 states are party to the CWC, and another two countries (Israel and Myanmar) have signed but not yet ratified the convention.[1]

    Yes you are missing something!

He was referring to the condemnation the world already has to the use of chemical weapons, in other words the ''red line'' is already a precedent that he didn't set, he wasn't being specific to Syria in that sentence!!!

I know some people want to cast aspersion and hate against President Obama , but do they have to sound so f*cking misinformed and dumb when they are doing it???

You and others are missing a few things the most important was he only released the gas on his own people, they may have been planning an insurrection of the government. The main topic is nobody outside of the borders were harmed.

As usual 0bama is trying to make case otherwise and as usual he fails.

He also said everyone's credibility - America, Congress, the UN, the world - is on the line EXCEPT his.

Am *I* missing something? He is either the President of the United States or he's not...

Also, he drew a red line stating that chemical weapons would change his calculus. Apparently, he uses very fuzzy math.

The buck stops... hmm... OVER THERE!

Who are you going to believe... Your lying eyes watching the tape of him setting the red line or Obama?

Obama knows his supporters are stupid and will believe ANYTHING he says.

You should read some history books once in a while.

August 27, 1874: The Brussels Declaration Concerning the Laws and Customs of War is signed, specifically forbidding the "employment of poison or poisoned weapons."

September 4, 1900: The Hague Conference, which includes a declaration banning the "use of projectiles the object of which is the diffusion of asphyxiating or deleterious gases," enters into force.

February 6, 1922: After World War I, the Washington Arms Conference Treaty prohibited the use of asphyxiating, poisonous or other gases. It was signed by the United States, Britain, Japan, France, and Italy, but France objected to other provisions in the treaty and it never went into effect.

September 7, 1929: The Geneva Protocol enters into force, prohibiting the use of poison gas.

He said it, it has been played all over the place. To the libs and this president though. It doesn't mean he said it. That is how our government now functions.

So, now our president has to speak for the world, Okay, sure maybe it is against international laws to use chemical weapons, but our president doesn't speak for the world, he is "suppose" to speak for us.
