What was Yahoo corporate thinking when it decided just a font change was good enough for a logo?

There's no element of design involved with a simple font change; I also want to know what Yahoo corporate can do to minimize being such a big target for late night comedy fodder, like what has already occurred on the Colbert Report.

Update:

Both answers are equally good, which makes it difficult to pick a best answer. I've seen the drawingboard version of the new "logo" so there's been some design involved, but it's a font design and the design elements aren't apparent without the draft version either. Regarding the thusfar TWICE that Stephen Colbert poked fun at Yahoo Answers, unless Yahoo exercises measures to ensure quality, Yahoo Answers will warrant such reputational denigrations. Alas.

Who knows. What are they thinking about any of the stupid changes they've made so far. No very much, I'd say.

That's true. Alot of hype and leadup for such a small change. They were better off sticking with the classic logo, as it is an iconic internet symbol.
