How can I convince my mom to let me wear hair extensions?

I sound bratty I bet. But my hair is so much thinner now, and its short. I want it to be longer but it never grows, it's like only past my shoulders. I asked her and she said no, because it would be too grown, but I don't understand how wearing hair extensions make you "grown". I really really want some. I am Black , and have almost black hair, and I know my color (1B) and everything!

If you have to ask your mother for permission to wear extensions, then you are not old enough to have them. That simple. Until you can afford them yourself, and are living on your own, you are going to have to follow your mother's directions. She does know better, even if you can't see that!! In the end, you will see she is right.

Hair that is shoulder length is NOT considered to be short! In the shop, we call that "long hair" for purposes of pricing.

You know, of course, that hair only lives a short time on your head -- about 4 to 7 years most of the time. It then stops growing and falls out. Another hair has to grow in that follicle and the cycle starts all over again. What length you get in that time is all you will ever get! You have reached the maximum length your hair can be. It will not get longer. Hair is growing 24/7, day and night. It only stops growing when you are dead.

When you are older, you can get extensions for yourself. Until then, you have to listen to your mother. It sucks being a kid! It's for your own good anyway.

Try talking to her about clip in extensions!

Your key selling points? They're temporary, last longer, and usually cheaper than traditional extensions.

Even if she only allowed you to wear them on special occasions, everybody wins! Once she got use to them, I'm sure that she'd allow you to wear them more and more, and eventually, she may warm up to the idea of permanent ones.
