How to pick a good female betta?
Hi, I'm going to breed my betta male and I'm trying to find a good female betta for him. He is about 3 inches dark navy blue with red on his front fins and purple and red on his tail. I have everything I need for breeding them but I just need some tips on finding the right mate for him. Should she be close in size?
P.S. I've done this before but it was a long time ago with my very first betta.

YES similar size is VERY important. If one is smaller than the other then the bigger one will most likely kill it. So pick one similar in size. Think about genetics too when you are picking your female. Do you want the babies to look like the male? Probably pick a female similar in color, if that's what you want. Pick one that is healthy and strong.
