Do Jews believe in a personal God?

I am asking because, due to the fact that most Jews are extremely intelligent, I very much doubt that they do. Being Jewish is more a cultural, social or political practice than a religion in the monotheistic sense of the word.

"Personal god" is not a term used in Judaism, that's a Christian invention. Judaism teaches that HaShem is everywhere and HaShem is even within us. We can talk directly with HaShem and there is no need for intermediaries.

I have no idea where you get the idea that "being Jewish is more a cultural, social, or political practice than a religion in the monotheistic sense of the word", not only is that false, it doesn't actually make any sense. Please clarify what you believe "religion in the monotheistic sense of the word" means.

The problem with your question is that you're mixing up being Jewish, with Judaism.

Being Jewish is a heritage, a culture. It doesn't necessarily have a religion.

Judaism is the original religion of the Jews, and they do believe in 1 God, and the fact we're in his image(a consciousness, steering, and growing a physical body(the Universe))

  • Judaism is the most monotheistic of religions. divorah's right, you're not making any sense.
