Yorkie and Shih Tzu terrified of baths?
I know that this is a normal dog thing to not like baths but id like to know what to do to make them more comfortable when I give them baths. When im done giving them baths they both shiver for at least 10 minutes. And its not because theyre cold because I try my hardest to keep them warm so they don't get colds,

I have in fact adapted my cats to liking baths to the point they jump in weather it is their bath time or not. I made them unafraid by being in there with them. In the beginning it was more of a petting session then a bath. I started them when they were babies and have done this with all of my cats and dogs. I have even gotten adult cats to like a bath. However I had a dog who was absolutely terrified of water, I can only imagine that he had had a bad experience when he was younger (I acquired him when he was 1 1/2). My other dog loved water so much I could not even water the plants with out him going insane trying to get at the water. I used to turn on the sprinkler so he could water pick his teeth.
try getting in the tub and having them sit on your lap and pet them. slowly lower their paws into the water don't worry about the soap at this time. make the drying part fun for them a petting frenzy.

My Shih Tzus also hate baths, pretty normal for the breed.
Make sure you are calm the entire time, don't make a big deal about them. The more you baby your dog, the more the dog thinks something is wrong.
Put abut 4 inches of warm water, bath as quickly as possible, towel dry really good after the bath, and let the dog fully air dry. Your dog won't catch a cold from being cold, this is a myth for dogs and humans. However, If you don't towel dry well enough your dog can get a rash. After my dogs get out of the bath I always give them a cozy spot to snuggle up in, sometime with a heating pad on low.
Oh, and keep bath to a minimum. Bathing more than every 6-8 weeks can dry out the skin.

If you bathe them in the tub, try the kitchen sink. Put a towel on the bottom for better footing, and don't fill the sink with water, just a couple of inches is enough. Be sure to thoroughly towel dry them, then sue a gun-style hair dryer (set on low), to get deep into the hair and you work out tangles and gently brush the hair.
If they are still shivering, put the on a heating pad until they warm up further. If you're satisfied that they are warm, a little shivering from being nervous won't hurt them. Also, don't bathe too frequently since that can dry out skin and hair coat. Only bathe once every couple of months - or less. Or, if they get into something smelly.

My Shih Tzu is terrified too. Try taking a hair blow dryer and drying your dog after the bath. You could also buy one of those little sweaters that they make for dogs.
