Why does Y!A display "This question has been deleted"?
Why not actually delete the question?
The problem with the message is there is no "Next" icon, so we can't move to the next question.
What value is there in displaying "This question has been deleted"?

That message is posted during the (normally) short time between when the question is initially deleted and when ALL the servers are updated to totally remove it.
You should be able to hit your browser BACK button once or twice to return where you came from and choose another question.
