Nintendo 3DS, how many steps gets you how many coins?
Does anyone know the coins per step count for the 3DS? I've figured out that the first 1,000 steps gets you 10 coins (basically 1 coin per each hundred steps), but what about after that?

If you bothered to read the 3DS Manual, you get 1 Play Coin per 100 steps up to the MAXIMUM of 10 Play Coins (=1,000 steps) per day... as you've already figured out.
You cannot obtain any more than 10 Play Coins per day, regardless of the number of steps you've done per day... being 1,000 or over 10,000.
The main reason for the 10 Play Coins / day cap is to actually promote activity each day (granted 1,000 steps isn't that active... considering the average steps per day is ~5,000) with your 3DS.
There's also a maximum of 300 Play Coins you can have at any given time. You forfeit any Play Coins you try to obtain beyond that limit. The main reason is to mix activity with play as Play Coins can be utilized however the developers wish. A few ways to spend Play Coins are...
* AR Game unlocks (~2-10 / ea.)
* Swapnote stationary (~5-15 / ea.)
* Mii Plaza games (2-30 / in-game purchase, varies per game)
* Kid Icarus: Uprising -- Trophy eggs (1 / ea.)
* Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Fortune Cookies (2 / ea.)
That's the gist here.

Yeah, basically... Move around. Close it (but keep it on) and put it in your pocket or something. Has a pedometer to count your steps as you walk.
