Should The Republicans Threaten To Shut Down Government Unless Social Security Is Repealed?
They fought against it when FDR introduced it over 80 years ago, their strategy of shutting down the government and making the government default on payments seems to be all the rage these days, so why not use it now to repeal social security and medicare and make abortion a death penalty offense and all their other issues? Isn't it a great idea?

Back then, republicans knew a shutdown would be a stupid idea without trying it and learning the hard way.
But you bring us to the underlying point: what republicans *really* fear is that Obamacare will be as successful as Romneycare, and as much a part of American life as Social Security.
