Is it possible to replace a 2 switch fixture with a 3 switch one?
My bathroom has a light switch fixture with two handles. One controls the vanity lights over the sink. The other controls both the ceiling fan and a separate recessed light in the ceiling. I would like to be able to put the fan on independently of the separate recessed light.
Is it possible to separate these and have a fixture with three handles installed? Would I need an electrician to do this?

The only way to separate these two is to run another wire from the switch (if that is where the power is) to either on of them an remove the existing wire between the fan and fixture. Electricity is not something to mess around with.
Not to offend but, if you do not know the difference between an outlet and a receptacle or a wire and a cable, maybe it's time to call in a professional. Good ones will look at the job and give you an estimate free of charge. Hope this helps. Good luck and may God bless.

Maybe is the only answer to your question. If the fan and the 2 lights are all cabled to the switch box it can be done. If the wires are not in the switch box then you must either install another wire or consider a wireless switch unit for the fan.

they do make a double switch that the thingy flips horizonal instead of up/down.
You'll have to buy a different switch cover as well.
