Betsy Ross was an American Hero. She was born on January 1, 1752 and she died on January 30, 1836. Her name was Elizabeth Griscom and briefly known by her second and third married names Elizabeth Ashburn and Elizabeth Claypoole, is widely credited with making the first American flag. There is, however, no archival evidence that the story is true.
She was born to Samuel Griscom and the former Rebecca James in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on January 1, 1752, the eighth of seventeen children. She grew up in a household where the plain dress and strict discipline of the Religious Society. Good luck.
