What do you think of the "new" Answers format?

In my opinion the "new" Answers format is the worst thing to happen that I could imagine. I tried to answer a question and couldn't find the "Submit" button nor a "Preview" button nor a way to "Search" for information pertinent to answering the question. This "new" format may look slick and modern but its ruined the Answers experience for me.

Agree or disagree?

It sucks harder than an entire room of vacuum cleaners. I now only use the UK site and if the UK site goes the same way I'll have to give serious consideration to stopping using it entirely. It's horrible.

Yahoo seems to not be very good at new formats. They ruined Flickr and now they're going after Answers.

They seem to be operating on the principle of "If it's not broken, then break it"

It's a real mess, you are absolutely right, and "it will kill YA!", as well. Never seen such a disaster redesigning a site: everything is nothing but a real nightmare. By the way, did you see the implementation at the very first day? It was full of advertising links, between the questions and the answers: really deplorable and disgusting.

I don't know if it's just a coincidence but, since the new implementation, the rate of people asking questions have decreased notably. Sometimes, in some Categories (painting, eg. it takes an hour or more to see a new question, before every 10' there was an new question. After 3 years answering questions, i know it´s not my imagination.

Right now, i use YA! Canada, the old fashioned design! but i know it won´t last forever...then i will move to Answers.com...

Right now, the last question was posted 2 hours ago(in Painting): i feel jobless, depressed, confused, bewildered...:(

It's not great, but then again yahoo answers layout was never great to begin with. I have to say it looks better aesthetically, however using it requires more clicks to do the same stuff. I do think they have made an improvement by displaying linked images in questions.

I don't know if it's just me, but since they made the changes there seems to have been a drop off in questions. Perhaps the new layout is putting people off already.

I'm still using UK Yahoo Answers for the time being, which still uses the old format. I'll continue to do so until they change that too, which is probably inevitable. Perhaps by then, they will have ironed out the bugs.

I'm getting used to it, and there is actually one thing I like about it. With the new format, I now always check "Answers Home" first. This shows who has rated your answer. That is nice to know, but what it REALLY shows me is if the ASKER has rated the answer or not. With the old Answers, I always had the suspicion that the asker was not even bothering to rate the answers, and indeed, probably not even bothering to come back and so much as look at any of the answers. Now, with this new version, it is fully obvious that in many cases, the asker never so much as rates any answer. THAT is what irritates me. It is very frustrating to take the time and effort to put up a good answer, and it appears the asker does not care enough to even rate any answer.

New look or not, it is still Answers, with the same idiots and morons mixed in with the people that actually have a brain.

Agree. I don't like the activities section - I know I answered a question yesterday. I probably answered a few. Since the question itself is no longer listed, just the activity, I find it difficult to find the specific question I'm looking for. Also don't like the ads listed under the question itself, although I must admit I've gotten some great laughs at the photography in them. People that bad really think they deserve paying for their crap work. Overall, I think the new format sucks. I have an old browser on my PC at work - the old format still comes up there. We'll see for how long.

I've never been a fan of Yahoo...

I don't use their e-mail address for anything, which is just as well as my e-mail account isn't working the way it should...I don't mind change...if it is an improvement, I just don't have the faith in Yahoo services to trust them with my electronic communications...I'm UK based and have heard some peoples poor experiences with Yahoo services, Yahoo doesn't seem to be the most reliable option...I personally enjoy Yahoo Answers, it is a great idea and gives me an option to beat 'boredom'...even Yahoo Answers though seems to be 'buggy' and sometimes the speed of an 'action' (next question) is that slow that I find it all 'unworkable'...I don't think it will be long before I eventually abandon Yahoo...they really would have to pull something special out the hat.

I posted this question 3 times in the "Yahoo answers" category because i have the same problem. Someone told me to update my browser but I said NO. When I want toast I do not want to fix the toaster everytime…I just want toast. Anyway, you can yellow highlight across a page and where the space does not turn yellow, it can mean a button is there. I figured out where most of my missing buttons are, but that's not the real problem…it's that I have to go in and out of the page 2-3 times before I get a submit button. It definitely discourages me.

I think it sucks! I just spent about 3 minutes looking for the answer button only to finally find notice this box to type in my answer. I quit using the newer version for similar reasons. The layout is just terrible, and if it were not for the Canadian version , I would not visit here at all! (I went to the US version to see the problem.) There have been so many complaints and yet the people at Yahoo do not have a clue as to what is going on.

Upper management is so disconnected, and they wonder why business keeps getting worse.

For those of you who don;t know what we are talking about Y!A has given/forced on a few of us a preview of the new Y!A look and feel. I opted the hell out of it ... it was such a mess!!! I couldn't find anything ... nothing was in a logical location and the design left you confused about what you were looking at ... they had question titles UNDER THE CONTENT for that question!!!

One of the features I do like is the ability to upload a picture straight into the question. That should cut on the "How to I post a picture here" questions but of course can lead to visual spam and offensive content that won;t get filtered by Y!A content filters.

EDIT: My 9-5 job is a web designer/developer/webmaster for a federal secretariat.

I think it will kill Yahoo! Answers, to be honest.

There might be some way to access the old format because it loads as the old format on my other computer. I think it's sad that this new format will probably be the death of Yahoo! Answers.

Yahoo! have bigger issues which they're concerned with, Google dominates the global websearch market and Yahoo! is in an alliance with Microsoft and Bing, I think products like Answers really struggle for relevance in many ways.

It's sad - I really liked Yahoo! Answers but I think it's jumped the shark.
