Who are some artists that use political or historical events in their artwork?

I need to research an artist that uses political or historical events in his or her artwork. This artist has to have background, education, and biographical information. I've tried looking for some artists, but I haven't had any luck. Hopefully you guys can help! It would be very helpful if you could include a link to the artist website also. Thank you!

An example would be an artist who painted 9/11; bombing the twin towers.

Jacques Louis David was a French painter who worked at one point to further Napoleon's political goals. He famously painted Napoleon's coronation.

In the late 18th century and early 19th century, there was a huge market in Europe for history painters, and often they would paint battle scenes shortly after they had been fought.

You could pretty much go down the list for the English Royal Academy or the French Academy and pick nearly anyone.
